This year, I tried my hand at some Butoh dancing. For those of you who don’t know, “Butoh” is a contemporary dance from Japan that utilizes slow movement and emphasizes the weakness of the body. It is more of an aesthetic rather than a style of dance and stems from Japanese theatre.
I dressed myself up in the way a Butoh dancer would — in all white. I painted my face, neck and arms white, and wore a long, no sleeve shirt and white pants. I even included red facial markings and rope tied to my forehead.
Here are some photos!
